a message

A message that came on a rainy day. And this is close to the image that I envisioned reading the message. if I were a creature lover, it might have been heartwarming. I almost felt it. But the snailphobic’s instant reply was “YUCK. remember to wash your hands!!”

I’ve had some days when inspiration struck, from the words that people say to things that I see or feel, and images pop up in my head. But i didn’t put them on paper. So I haven’t been updating. just realised images from my imagination. same root word?

“When I grow up, I want to be an artist”

Picture from someone’s photo reference. I like the “feel”.

Frooze is on his way to realising a dream. And I question what I’m doing because I’m still at the same spot, barely budging towards my dreams except for this website. I follow the practical path, and can’t derive satisfaction. In fact, am getting more dissatisfied thinking about this. Yet there’s no courage to switch because I have no confidence because it is afterall still a paper chasing society, even in that field, and I feel I ain’t good enough. The path is dark and lonely. It’s not like you were taught in primary school. An occupation isn’t as easy as writing on a piece of paper “When I grow up, I want to be an artist”.

Sketches

I spent the morning at Borders flipping art/sketching books for 3 hours. Was inspired to do sketches but didn’t stay out long enough to practise what I read, so I figured I could find reference photographs to start off. We all need some place to start, don’t we?

I don’t know if anyone else thinks the same way. I’m not biased, but caucasians and other races like african americans/indians are, in general and in my opinion only, easier to draw cos they have sharper features. Chinese features are more difficult to draw cos of the flatter features. I would be more convinced of the illustrators for those sketching books if they had drawn some Chinese faces in with the caucasians they drew.

Panda says she’s successfully converted to be a fan. I liked that day in the café. Because we were where we were. No troubles. To me, the best days are spent sleeping and eating. Which was exactly what I did.

I haven’t been online much.
Just surfed some blogs like I haven’t done in months.
Came across a photoblog that got me inspired with this phrase.
It means “Here is room for your creativity”.

Pig’s envy says a white background is difficult to work with.
What can you do with this white space?

A long while back, my younger sister and I went to Ikea Tampines. My favourite place.  With my favourite food. :D Saw these 2 kids eating at the restaurant with their parents, thought they looked really cute because they were sitting on really high stools that were taller than themselves. And the boy was sitting at the edge of his seat cos he couldn’t reach his food. Just a quick doodle of them.

Isn’t it beautiful?

Did I ever mention how pretty the view from my window was? I know I’ve done 2 doodles of it before, but what I draw can’t replace the real thing. It’s a canvas on its own. And I never tire of the view.

I stayed on the 4th floor, but this 4th floor is on a “hill”, so essentially, it’s higher than a normal 4th storey. Not high enough to see the entire sea view, but you can spot some parts of it, when the weather is clear, at the edges where the coastal trees end (in the pictures, you can see some ships if you look close enough). Not the best view obviously–the entire sea view is only available from the 7th storey and above I think–but it’s enough.

Oh and I must add: Planes fly past almost every few minutes!  My sisters caught the A380 taking its maiden flight to Sydney.

I can’t sleep past 8am everyday because I wake up to this every morning

and the sun rays fill up the room so it’s impossible to sleep anymore.

There are times when the clouds are grey and a thunderstorm’s looming

but mostly, come evenings, you get this

and this

Sometimes, the sky remains blue, and the clouds take on the orange/pink/purple colours of the setting sun instead. I did a picture before for that one.

You can watch the sun set gradually

till the colours fade away

and night falls!

You can see the spots of light in the sky that is the plane. And the lights of the ships in the distance. Hear the low horns of the ships in the quiet of the night.

I miss my old home very much :(

Any buyers?

Hehe. Na.. Just kidding. But hello again! In case you were wondering, this blog is not abandoned. But I’ve been busy at work, and what little free time away from work was spent busy with something else self-explanatory from the picture above. Complete relocation was spread over several weeks, it’s been done for awhile now, we’ve started to settle in, but pig didn’t have a chance to colour this and post it up until now. Hope you like it. ^_^

P.s. I’m still doodling! But I’ll need 48 hours/day if I want to colour the doodles in and put them up. So please bear with me!

Fröhliche Weihnachten und ein glückliches Neues Jahr!

Finally! It’s been awhile hasn’t it! I’ve given up apologising. Thanks for still being around *wave* But here’s the picture I’ve been spending AGES doing, because I did a realllly rough sketch with untidy lines and had to edit ALOT. Doing this picture has really got me understanding what it really means to say “I’ve tried my best”. It really took a lot of effort, having to forgo several nights of sleep just to squeeze out what little time I have in these busy times. I need a break! But that’s besides the point. I hope you enjoy this!

on the road

Sometimes I feel like the world is rushing by too fast, I just wish it would slow down so I could stop to enjoy. I read a book, where they had a suggestion of happiness being reality divided by expectations. And that if there are no expectations, expectations=0, then happiness would be undefined ‘cos reality can’t be divided by 0?? Made me wonder. I want to learn to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. To be happy for the simplest things in life. What does it take to make you happy?
