Playing with the brushes of photoshop. The bare minimum, just like with artPad. And it all started from a very, very simple doodle I did. And by simple, I Really mean simple. The effect is alot nicer all because of photoshop. It’d probably look even better if done by those who are skilled in photoshop.

Sometimes I find it unfair. Cuz it makes artists out of everyone.

On the front page is dated March 2001, and if you notice, the spine has browned (it was supposed to be colorless). The magazine was done with both covers as above, the coffee and tea parts separated by turning one of them upside down, so that if you started reading from either cover pages, it would still be the right side up. (I think that was mq’s idea.) Brings back memories for the full marks we scored (!!),for the team who made it up, the team effort, and the creativity. :) Cover pages were completely hand-drawn/hand-made.

You remind yourself that the world is full of people who are less fortunate, but because there are better people with better luck, better fortune, and better lives around you, one can’t help but still feel life isn’t good enough when you’re feeling weary. Make no mistake, am not blaming God or anything. Just a rainy day.

I found out about artPad while flipping through the archives of one blog, got so fascinated with it that I bookmarked the page and went back to look thru pictures that others made.

The fun thing is that you get to “play” the drawing like a video so you can see how the person drew the entire thing–this gives you a better idea as to how to go about fully utilizing the limited number of tools there are. It was fun to play with, except that I got disconnected halfway and my brushes became so laggy, I couldn’t quite “feel” the brushes with the already-”feel”-limiting mouse (if you get what I mean). Almost gave up then. And also, because I got disconnected, I couldn’t get the entire captured drawing (complete with “play” button)–the thing I saved comes out as a blank. Disappointing. Thank god for print screens.

Anyway, this was what I spent my lazy afternoon on (with reference of course, no prizes for guessing what the picture was):
