So we went for a dr. sketchy, the first of its kind in SG, Panda and I.

I went late, and didn’t have a good seat, so my view of the model was very much obstructed.

The model is the lady with the feather on the left of the picture . As you can see, I was starting to get drawn to everything else but the model. I started people-watching the other people drawing.

This woman on the left was very pretty. But I couldn’t capture much of her in detail-she wasn’t drawing, she was taking photographs so she was moving around pretty quick.

wd3

The model was doing poses ranging from 5 min to 20 mins and gave me that same amount of time to draw these people who were engaged in drawing her for that period.

The lady in front of me. She was one of the obstructions in my view of the model, so I drew her instead. ;P

It is just my opinion, but I was quite disappointed with the session-most of the guys will probably beg to differ. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by relatively smoke-free environments. I don’t like that there were a lot of smokers. Who said you had to be a smoker or speak with a slang in order to an artist? And couldn’t they be considerate smokers? But it was definitely good to see how well some of them drew. They drew with the standard “guiding” lines and curves. Things we both have never learnt, you could see it in the way we drew as compared to what they did–that we were just drawing what we saw.

Would love to draw like them one day.
