Portrait drawing (I hope it is)

Panda packed her bags and moved to london recently and would be there for some time. It’s been a month and she misses her family and friends back home. What used to be weekends packed with hangouts are now quiet ones. It takes time to build up social circles let alone friendships. Not allowing herself to be bored at home, panda heads out at every opportunity and was glad to spend a friday evening at the National Portrait Gallery for the late night drop-in drawing.

Panda was almost an hour late but the atmosphere was so relaxed it didn’t matter. Armed with sheets of paper and 2 pencils, she went around the gallery not to look for the preferred portrait to sketch, but for an empty bench (haha). She ended up sketching, or attempted to, a figurine of Thomas Fairfax that was sculptured in – gasp 1650! The hour just flew by and at the end of the session, it was nice to have complete strangers to come up and compliment on the shading though I thought it was badly done 🙂 Perhaps next time there will be more opportunities to meet like minded folks for sketching social sessions.

Till then!
